Interesting tidbit over on Liftblog. Peter pushed the Kanc8 and Swifty6 to 2021 but he also has Sugarloaf listed for the new West Mountain 6 that summer as well. No mention of SR upgrades 😪

Another tidbit from Liftblog. As part of their issuance of $600 million in new bonds, Vail agreed to limit yearly capital expenditures to $200 million until at least January 2022. This is along with added liquidity requirements and other restrictions on mergers, acquisitions and investments. investors.vailresorts.com/static-files/068599dd-a219-476d-9492-8f286d6a6a66"We will also be prohibited, during the Temporary Waiver Period, from making capital expenditures in excess of $200.0 million per 12-month period ending January 31, other than non-recurring extraordinary capital expenditures incurred in connection with emergency repairs, life safety repairs or ordinary course maintenance repair." For comparison, in December 2019 they announced planned spending of up to $215 million in 2020. So overall this seems like a minor limitation, but besides being delayed for a year, some projects won't happen until they can get out from under these special requirements. news.vailresorts.com/corporate/2020-capital-improvements.htm

And they may have to catch up on defered maintenance from this year, some of which they may need to push into their CapEx depending on how much gets delayed due to shutdown of work, etc. They were fairly leveraged up with what looked like pass sales that had already been stagnating prior to Covid. I hope they pull through this given the amount of rsorts under their umbrella now, but Katz is going to either go fully gray or bald after this!

The gondola (3S, none of this monocable nonsense for a critical transit link lift) for Park City would be nice from a Utah as one larger resort concept but I don't think it alone would alleviate the traffic in the canyon. A second one from the SLC side would work but would be a lot of $$ as I think the length is considerably longer. Monorail is old tech, might work as it is elevated already to clear slide prone areas. Slides along the road are big concerns which is why some type of elevated roadway over slide zones or aerial lifts would likely be more feasible from that perspective. Solutions will be costly in any direction they go, that is for sure.

Interesting use of a chairlift! www.newenglandskiindustry.com/viewstory.php?storyid=839Cranmore Mountain Resort is offering the use of its chairlift and summit area free of charge to host the Kennett High School graduation. The event it planned for Saturday, June 13. According to the plan approved by the Conway School Board this week, a graduate and their guest will ride the Skimobile chairlift to the summit, unload to receive their diploma and have their photo taken, then will ride back to the base. The ceremony is expected to take six to seven hours to ensure spacing and distancing.

SR and RiverFund could do similar for Telstar with Barker (I'd say Chondi but it is not set up for downloading foot traffic on chairs). Gould could use their T-Bar and roller skis/boards LOL! That would be an adventure back down, Cascade to Bear Paw, that's an easier route right?!

Of course, you couldn't do every other chair on the download. Probaby not on Barker either.

I think Barker is also 10% download capacity, same as Locke. 10% download should be fine. In this case the school has 750 students, assuming about 1/4 are graduating seniors that's around 188 and the article said they expect the whole ceremony to last 6-7 hours. 180 kids in 6 hours just to make it easy is 30 per hour or 1 every two minutes. The Skimobile lift being used is a 1995 Doppelmayr HSQ with 83 chairs so I'd assume they're going to space the kids out every 8-10 chairs and stop it for unloading/loading simultaneously at top and bottom. It will make for a long ride both ways.... Load every tenth chair at the bottom, stop it when a loaded chair is at the top, hand off the diploma, take a picture, start the chair up and move it ten chairs, rinse and repeat

What could possibly go wrong?
