Back at it! I'll be first to say I think we need to tamp down our expectations with new hardware in the lift department coming soon. I bet Loon still gets the Kanc8 (ordered so I would expect that is from funds not reliant on this season) but I doubt we see new lifts now in 2021. Hopefully I am terriby wrong, but given the state of the world today, doubt it.

Agreed, 2/3 new lifts next summer...Jordan/Barker and new Merrill hill all at same time...I hope.

My thoughts are (and this does line up with SR2030 as it is today) that JBX and Barker get replaced at the same time, JBX gets moved to Tempest, and the current Tempest chair goes to Merrill Hill and its chairs (hanger arm down) are replaced with Barker's old chairs. The carpet seems to be more of a short-term solution until that all happens. Then (if they stick to the plan) later North Peak would be replaced and the current machine would be relocated to replace Aurora. It has enough chairs and power to do that.

That would work for me, seeing as how they have a trail in, w snowmaking and a foundation is going up...seems like things are moving forward.

Relocating an HSQ to Tempest would transform that base and relieve a ton of pressure from Barker, in my opinion.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, this is the trail MB is referring to: Taken standing on Ridge Run, looking up. Newer bridge is just out of view on the left. Snowmaking pipe (green) is visible on the right of the new trial. IIRC, it might have been called "Ski Back" on this year's trail map (that might have been something else).

I like your thoughts Max, but DB has been adamant with me that White Cap would not get a Detach. My thoughts on Tempest is it gets a carpet as soon as this summer, then it just gets a new tristar drive, chairs and sheave sets and maybe a new return terminal from Dopp down the road. I would like to be wrong, but I have a feeling the mountain does not want to expand its detachable fleet if/where possible.

I tried "skiing it" after a January storm (may have been MLK weekend) exiting from Yetiville. Absolutely kill my calf muscles as it was basically nordic in 6 inches of pow the first half of the "trail" off Aurora Road. No snowmaking on that flat half either. Once you come around two corners and the pitch finally kicks in (right by the first home tree clearing on the upper side of Upper Road) is where the snowmaking pipes start. They actually did make a couple of huge piles out of the most upper hydrant on the line (probably to test valving and pipe welds) and they did Groom the decent pitched section a couple of times. That part skis very nice. Not sure how the trail will actually flow, we hiked over the top from the MB Road side of Merrill Hill about aa month ago and coming over the resort side, there are a lot of other cleared lines that are either early road or trail cuts uphill.

Be very surprised if we see a Merrill Hill lift until they close on the vast majority of the lots in the new development...

Let me also clarify that I'm not ruling out Seven Bros being relocated to Merrill Hill upon its likely retirement next year. Both it and Tempest are pretty well built lifts (late Yan fixed grips had issues with the grips and aluminum sheave assemblies, both of which have been fixed by Poma). I also don't think they would replace the drive terminal on Tempest and nothing else, there's no logic to that. At most they could upgrade the tensioning system to use longer rams and therefore have more active tension travel (better wind performance that way), but there's nothing wrong with the drive terminal as it is that would warrant replacing it. This is the general alignment I would expect for the Merrill Hill lift: Both Tempest and Seven Bros. could run on that alignment at design capacity without any sort of drive upgrade.

Max, just confirming this is the actual line the new lift will run? If yes, thank you. Had not seen this. Perfect!!!!

I am not 100% sure about it as I'm not sure how the bottom terminal will interact with the Dream Maker Lodge, but that is the general area. If it were up to me I would place the bottom terminal right at the bottom of Northway, but all of the renderings for the Dream Maker Lodge have the building right where I would put the lift terminal. The top terminal will likely be sited where I have it.

That would make sense, put it right by the lodge.
