Big changes for Alterra-owned Crystal Mtn (WA). MAJOR increase in Crystal unlimited pass, plus an additional $300 for IKON add-on. Will require $2,000 for an unlimited Crystal/IKON pass for 22/23 - more than double 21/22. Crystal only $1,699 Alterra will be investing $100mil+ into Crystal for 700 additional paid parking spaces, a 100 bed hotel, 2 new base lodges, unspecified trail/lift upgrades, and off-mtn employee housing. "Covid-demand" created all reserve, paid-parking for this season and last season too IIRC. Too many people trying to access which clogged the roadways in and swamped the parking that existed. Crystal had a $1,200 unlimited pass before Alterra purchase and inclusion in low cost IKON created unmanageable volume. Maybe a vision into the future for the broader ski world. Crystal Mountain Changes 22/23

Crystal Mountain Changes 22/23 Maybe, but I see it as Crystal hedging against a mass Epic bailout to them and swamping them even more. They may still get coverts from Stevens, but it is going to take almost $1K to jump from Steven's Epic to a Crystal only pass. Personally, I truely believe with Vail's shoddy management of Stevens, Crystal and Alterra had even more incentive to build the moat.

Crystal Mountain Changes 22/23 Just looked at Crystal's website. At least for $1899 renew (1999 first buy) one gets the full Crystal AND full Ikon Passes. One could opt for an Ikon base add on but that only saves you $50, doesn't seem worth it. Full Cystal passholders are still subject to ski reservations and paying for parking. Guess this could be the precipice to affordable skiing going away if this starts a trend in a few years.

Guess this could be the precipice to affordable skiing going away if this starts a trend in a few years. How do you define “affordable”? Many would say that threshold was crossed long ago.

Crystal doesn't have reservations for skiing - it started that way and changed to parking only reservations after a short time (crashed the system!). This season they require reservations for for parking on Fridays and weekends, but only for non-passholders. Ikon passholders just need to register their license plate but don't have to pay for parking. Next season the paid parking will be weekends only and apply to Ikon and most other passes unless added as an extra. They seem to have become too popular with people daytripping from Seattle.

For good reason. A great mountain. Stevens has some nice terrain too but not equal to Crystal. I now ski Stevens when in WA b/c brother has property down pass @ Lake Wenatchee but get a day or two of spring in at Crystal. National forest makes logistics for handling crowds difficult at both.

I have to wonder if Boyne now stands to make out, with the likely exodus from Epic Stevens. Crystal is a HUGE price jump for the Stevens folks, so wonder if Snowqualmie will pick up much of any exodus. Granted it is quite a step down terrain wise from either of the others, but it is also the closest.

Just bought my MT Hood Timberline Spring Pass. Good until May 30th. Went up to $237 this year, but Mid May is the plan for one more trip.
Two more Platinum passes for us. Will do that soon. The Discount ticket thing at 50% was never real. it was off full price ticket prices. You never really got 50% off. Half the specials they offered were better.
Not much Value in that program IMO. Only did it a few times. The Pass I think is still a great Value with the IKON base.

Passes go on Sale and Guns on line. Web Cam for White cap shows a gun just came on line and report shows lazy river has snow making on it. Makes me feel like I get my money's worth.
