Ryan Cochran's save during the Bormio DH. Tell me this guy doesn't have the strength of an ox and the reflexes of a cat. He just used up another one of his nine lives.

Certainly is looking like Shiffrin has some competition in Slalom now. Petra is at the top with Liensberger of Austria and Gisin of Switzerland right up there as well. Petra's overall lead keeps increasing with her 1st in today's Slalom. Shiffrin in 4th, 5 hundreths out of third and just .27 bak of Petra. Not much room for error these days.

Ryan Cochran comes from a long line of Cochran skiers. The are Vermont Skiing Royalty. His Aunt Marilyn Cochran Brown worked for our condo association's management team for a while as a second job. I had a long talk about her family. Extremely humble people about their legacy.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XLB3XdbCiwOMG is right! The athletes are so good that it all looks so “casual” on video. Compressing with that much energy and speed into a turn and being able to get back in the driver’s seat ... Wow. “Core and quads”. Fun to watch skiing at this level.

Congrats to Mikaela for finding the top step in a Slalom again today. Hard to believe her last top step in Slalom was back in December 2019. She now holds the record for victories by a female skier in one discipline with 44 in slalom and moves her solely into 3rd all time of all skiers with career victory #68. It also was her century mark for total podiums. Fellow US skier Paula Moltzan scored her highest slalom finish to date of 9th and first full year team member AJ Hurt scored her first slalom points finishing 29th, which makes this her 4th discipline she has scored points in this season. The team is really starting to fill out again.

Seems it is the year of the comeback career for Lara Gut-Behrami, edging Shiffrin by .02 seconds in the GS today at Worlds. That makes 2 Golds and a Bronze in the three events Lara raced and she comes out with momentum, leading the Super G standings and trailing Petra for the Overall by just 42 points. Boy has she finally climbed back to the form she had half a decade ago when she seemed unbeatable.
Great showing by Nina O'Brien today too, just .02 seconds behind Shiffrin after the first run. Her second she was flying, ahead of Lara at every split until a mistake entering the flat bottom costing her a ton of time and what would likely have been her first podium ever and possibly even the win. Shiffrin gets her third medal, now one of every color in these Championships with a chance to add a fourth in the Slalom Saturday.

Congratulations to Lara Gut-Behrami in her big comeback season, winning today's Downhill and catching Petra (finished 9th in the DH herself) from behind to now lead the overall race. It was 2016 when she last won the overall, followed by blowing out her knee the next season. Prior to her knee, she was a force and looked hard to beat. She seems to finally have come back into form. Given the next two races are anothr DH then Super G, Lara looks to build on her now slim lead over Petra. Then onto home snow for Petra for GS/SL. Funny that Shiffrin could actually help Lara in the race for the Overall.

Lara continues at her torrid pace, winning both downhills and a second on today's Super G. She is now almost 200 ahead of Petra in the overall. I expect she races the GS in Slovakia and if she scored some points, good chance she stays at least 100 ahead of Petra after the tech races. Petra didn't help herself at all today, coming in a distant 32nd and out of points after decent showings in both DH's. Fun race to the finish.
