Shiffrin back in the start house this morning for the first Slalom in Levi, she came in second to Petra, :18 back. She ran first in the first run. Second slalom is tomorrow, she runs I think 5th tomorrow in the 1st after Petra this time. Not bad for her first race in almost 10 months or so.

So in the second race at Levi, MS finished 5th. Maybe not the norm for her, but not bad after 10 months of zero races. She ended the weekend tied for 2nd in the slalom standings and third in the overall after skipping the first GS in Solden. Good start for her, hopefully she felt good racing again.

She's skippy the Parallel event that is up next, Petra is not. Going to have to say MS is now probably a long shot for the overall, especially how FIS is running Covid issues. Swedish team got sent home from Levi due to a coach on the team testing positive last weekend and not allowed to compete. That is two races with zero points, if that happens to MS, would be even harder to catch Petra.

Congratulations to Paula Moltzan for her first podium ever taking Second today in the women's parallel (GS) Big Final. Great Thanksgiving for her! Normally, a DNF would result in nothing but not in a parallel event when you make the final (or small final or so-on at least once thru the qualifiers). Petra won again, she now has 360 of the possible 400 points this young season.

Moltzan raced at Sunday River in the Bates Carnival back in 2019 when she was skiing on the NCAA college circuit for UVM. She DNF'ed second run of GS and placed 3rd in slalom. Her UVM teammate Laurence St Germaine who is also skiing on the World Cup circuit and has posted several top 10 WC finishes, won the slalom and was 3rd in the GS (almost 2 seconds back. Just shows you the level of competition at the NCAA Division 1 level.

Haven't posted in a bit. We've had some excitement from the men's side with Tommy Ford grabbing a 4th in GS, Travis Ganong a 4th in Super G and Ryan Cochran Siegle a 13th in DH.
But the big news is, Shiffrin is now all the way back. After what was likely to her a dissapointing 4th Saturday in the first Courchevel GS (she was in 3rd for the first run and competitive, falling over 1.8s back after the finish), after the postponment of the second to today, she found the top step again! Considering her first 3 races she entered were 2nd, 4th, 4th and this after 10 months off course, she definitely has found IT again! Congrats!!
BTW, this was Shiffrin's 67 WC win, tying her with Marcel Hirscher for third all time, trailing just Lindsey and Ingamar now. And yes, she was super emotional after the win and I don't think anyone can blame her.

Good for her! She’s going to own a lot of records before she is done.

Ryan is definitely the skier the US Men's team has been searching for since Bode and Rahlves retired. Congrats to Ryan!! Looking foward to much more success from him!
