Trails got some rain today and are riding very well. Lots of chatter on back channels. If anyone is around Saturday and wants to ride, I am happy to lead for those that are new to the trails....or not quite sure how they are all connected. All comers ride, meaning no one gets left behind. Just ping me here or private message and we can coordinate. Huzzah to the rain. Camping at South Arm this weekend, but looking forward to hooking up for a ride in the coming weeks. We spent a few nights at the 3 pines site at south arm What a great spot 👍🏻

Sugarloaf Trails = A+. Each time I ride up there, I learn more and love it even more.

Couldn't agree more MB. The MTN Bike scene in the area has been a welcome breath of fresh area and growth. The trail building is supurb. What they have done at Abram with the camps, beer garden, and overall vibe is so infectious. I'd like to see we are at the beginning of what will be an extensive trail system. Keep riding, supporting, and encouraging others to get out there. "Maine's Finest Athlete" enjoyed the Mt A trails.

While not Bethel/Newry, anyone thinking of heading up to Carrabassett for some Mountain Biking, be aware a lot of the trails are now closed due to a land use issue with the Penobscot Nation. See here for more details: www.sugarloaftoday.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9118

Makes sense, KT closed a bunch of access due to assholes not following the landowner rules.

Their office is closed due to Covid and it sounds like they have said they will be back in touch once the Covid smoke clears with the town. Hopefully it is just Covid messing with tribal politics and they are not sick of users messing up the lands. Never got up there, but it seems as these things grow in popularity and more out of staters come in, more problems brew with landowners that the trails cross. Hope the Bethel/Newry stuff that is there and that which is up and coming can steer clear of this. Would hate to see a ton of effort go in only to have a few ruin it for many.

Its easy, follow the rules..BVT will close soon for hunting season...important not to ride during closures..that is why the put the "trails closed" sign up when the trails are closed, follow the rules...very easy. And pick up your trash, seems pretty simple.

The Nation has raised land use issues similar to what MB referenced with KT. That may be playing a part, but I think it is more likely a political issue at its core that is being exacerbated by the covid closure. It is a complex relationship that can change on a whim, I’ve seen it happen up close (granted it was 20+ years ago).

It was because some assholes gave the actual land owner shit for riding his horse on the trails not know he was the owner. A huge argument ensued and nearly came to blows. The land owner then closed all the trails on his land which was a huge swath right in the middle.
