Anybody know the story of the (apparently) abandoned half-pipe on T72? It's got small weedy trees in it now, after several years of neglect.
Why did SR stop grooming/maintaining it? Do park riders care that it's not open?

Maybe half-pipes are going the way of onesies, zip-lines, sit skis, ski blades and other fads. Also, the average skier/boarder can’t get halfway up the wall of a super pipe. Bring back the Dumont Cup!

Park stuff, especially the big builds, are driven a lot by Gould I think. Pretty sure they don't have a pipe program any longer so who would you be building a superpipe for? The problem with the superpipe on T72 is they never ran pipes for snowmaking for it, so they have to drag hose across the jump lines and/or drag through the woods from 3D to make snow in it. It requires a lot of snow even though it has an earthen structure and also requires a pipe dragon or similar to cut/shape and maintain it. That piece of equipment is a dedicated piece you cannot really use anywhere else on hill. All that adds up to the death of the superpipe. Of the 3 Boyne resorts, Loon kept theirs going the longest but even they have thrown in the towel now for the past few years.
I have no idea why they haven't knocked the earth pipe down, maybe too much $$ to do so and no need for a super wide slope on that part of t72 that they'd have trouble covering widthwise with snowmaking. Maybe they hope to have an opportunity to host an event needing a superpipe in the future? Its odd.

Good excuse for a lunch work party come warmer months. There are a few areas that need a folding saw thinning. They really need a large scale brush hog in Blind Ambition from Lola side

They plunked it mid trail on LMP (their big park) between the rail lines and the big jumps. They did not use their earthen formed superpipe again this year.
