Copper has set 11/14 as their opening day. Meanwhile here are some Other Overly Optimistic October Opening day projections from On the Snow www.onthesnow.com/colorado/projected-openingsKeystone 10/21 ABasin 10/22 Loveland 10/29 Note: Not all dates listed here are official and final; they are projected and subject to changeKeystone beating A-Basin, that is rich. Of course, with Vail's Faux Pas up in Bergman Bowl, perhaps pushing to be the first to open is salve to that wound. Copper will open to the US Ski Team in advance of that 11/14 public open if at all possible. The Super Bee side is dedicated to speed training and race teams only, the public gets American Eagle and Flyer access.

Snowmaking has started on North Ridge at Killington. This is not a test. Well, actually it is. But they added air and made things White for the morning instead of just wet.

Not that it is easy to find, but did anyone else see Ski's top 20 Eastern Resorts? I wasn't aware Sugarloaf had picked up and moved south, but according to the write up for #10 Loaf, the mountain did just that and now calls Bethel it's ski town.
Wow, Outside just needs to let Ski completely die if this is the writing quality we can expect. Oh yeah, the list is a Joke even more so this year (SR came in 13th).

Well it is a reader survey, so blame it on whomever still subscribes & reads SKI. Actual quote from the Sunday River section, “I don’t know how I never discovered Sunday River until this year......." www.skimag.com/ski-resort-life/resort-guide/top-20-ski-resorts-in-the-east-2023/Bretton Woods comes from being unranked to #2 and only missed being #1 by 0.02 points

The last time they weren't open on Thanksgiving was roughly 13 or 14 years ago. They opened the day after and were the only ski area in New England open that day. Talk about a shit show! I believe Killington opened the following day. They may not open on an 18 hour window like in past years, but I think as soon as they get a solid window they will go for it. I would guess a mid November opening. It was only 4 years ago we were skiing in October.

Sunday River Facebook just ungraded the 2030 plan some questionable things like replacing North Peak chair and South Ridge. NP is fast and works fine seens likw a waste of money and resources.

Those are not new, been on the 2030 plan since its inception. North Peak I am guessing is in consideration for Merrill Hill and Dreammaker Lodge if that ever happens. Perhaps it gets refurbed and Tempest gets the old NP instead of just a carpet fixed per the plan. South Ridge is the second oldest detach on the hill, when Barker gets replaced it will be the only Poma detach on hill. I would guess a D-Line machine so it has load carpet to platform with the platform lift system for ski school ease. Doubt it will be bubbled. Not much new on the plan really at this point.

For lifts the plan shows the following Short term: Barker replacement, Tempest add carpet load Mid term: Tempest & Aurora replacement Long term: North Peak & South Ridge replacement 2030.sundayriver.com/I wonder if there are any plans for Locke since it is the oldest lift on the mountain - maybe it just goes away at some point since the racers have a T and Barker will be replaced.
