Seems Boyne is going all in for Summer attractions almost exclusively at Loon in th East. The Mountain Bike Park will shift this summer to service off the Kanc8 and now it sounds like they might get a Mountain Coaster with it debuting sometime mid-late winter out of West Basin as well. While the location makes sense in terms of heavy WMNF attraction around it in the summer, doesn't help Bethel/Newry stabilize without any offseason investments here. I know the MB scene in the region is improving in scope and attractiveness, but I do wonder what Boyne's plans are at the mountain itself. Not that I think it would be a huge attraction, but we were suppose to get that observation tower on North and they had been talking up a Coaster on North too. Wonder if that is still in the deck of cards or not.

I still content they see SR as golf destination vs. MB or other summer activities. Will be interesting to see if we hear them pulling the trigger on another 18 by jordan if only to bolster the whole Western Reserve play. Hard to argue with them going all in at Look for the summer. Lincoln is booming in the summer and there is just so much to do in the whites.

Agree completely with the logic of Loon as a summer destination. I don't know what's up with SR in the summer. We love it up here in the summer for the peace and quiet. Can't stand the zoo that is the MWV. But we're not trying to make money at a resort.
The golf course is awesome. ( I probably lose nearly a dozen balls every time I play it.) But it never seems that crowded. Why would they build another course? The Bethel Inn is a big golf destination, and they market the heck out of it. Not so much SR. Maybe SR needs to go the Jay Peak route with a water park and hockey rink. Wasn't there a water park proposal next to the Summit at one point? As for mountain biking, I don't know. I've done some riding at Kingdom Trails near Burke Mountain in Vermont. That's something that would work in the Bethel area. What's gone on the last few years in Bethel is a good start, but it needs much more development to become a mountain biking destination.
Speaking of rinks, as a hockey guy I'd love to see one at SR. Maybe something like Sugarloaf has at its outdoor center. A nice 200 x 85 outdoor rink with lights would be a relatively inexpensive proposition for a resort like SR. Put it somewhere in South Ridge and get some activity there at night. Just a thought.

New Hires and long time seasonal employees are already getting the rub for year round employment.
Mind you, all this while Vail has killed both Attitash and WC's summer activities. Anyone wanna buy a Zip Line or an Alpine Slid.....

I think they should consider something like Killington, one monthly fee gets you skiing, golf, etc.
I think they have this at Loon too? You get MB and Skiing, Loon only unfortunately.
Ice Rink would be great, they tried it 8-10 years ago (after WC's demise) but stuck it on the tennis courts in the middle of nowhere.
WC has potential, if they could fix it up. Always thought night skiing would be better there on Little White Cap, got the hotel guests right there, room for an ice rink and a fancy lighted walk.

Honestly, I always thought if the mountain were serious about night skiing (which clearly now they were not) that stay with North but tie in BOTH Little and White cap quads and link the terrain. Would cover both South Ridge and Foggy, Summit hotel with LRR and Camp and just about all the condos too. Hell, toss Merrill in now and ridge run and touch all the lodging save for the Jordan (oh boy, that would go over great with those owners). But now with Shawnee, that will likely be the only ME night skiing focus for Boyne.

Well, Boy e is finally moving ahead with the Escape Route learning pod and access point at South Peak next summer to debut for 23-24 ski season. Apparently the pod will come with fully automated snowmaking as well as a carpet load Dopp FGQ. Boy e didn't include any of that in the original FlightPath 2030 at Loon even though they were sitting on the NFS approvals for that expansion. Now that it is back on the front burner, will be interesting to see if the RiverWalk Resort exhumes it's plans for a pulse gondola linking it to the Escape Route base across the river. Not sure where the $$$ is flowing from at Boyne, but a lot of progress in their Eastern resorts for sure.

Really hoping Boyne isn't done at SR with the Jordan8, so many other things need attention.

To my knowledge, they have a position retained with Dopp for next summer but I do not think they have a solid order placed. They could and are just keeping the actual lift type hush hush. But I have not found confirmation anywhere of what they are actually buying for Barker. I would think if they had it locked already, SR would have announced the actual lift by now.

Forest service just approved Loon's mountain coaster plans. Will be parallel to Kissing Cousin lift in West Basin and may be installed and ready by late summer/fall.

Well, the first base lodge replacement for the Boyne Eastern portfolio is a go!!!
Nope, not at SR. Loon, the Governor Adams lodge replacement in West Basin is being replaced with a new structure to be built where the current learner and comp centers are just west of the existing lodge. The current lodge will remain in place while the new lodge is built over the next two years. Post completion, it is still undetermined if the old lodge will be razed or kept and repurposed. Additionally, they have extensive lodge building to be done at the new base of South Peak in the coming seasons as most of the ski school will be moving to the new learning pod they are putting in right now. Hopefully SR gets in on that action soon, along with some type of peak period parking strategy.

The temporary tent is small, is not located near the large parking lot at South Peak and the Cisco lease kinda of lessened the space for normal lodge activities.
