Unless you are a real good skier and have solid steep techical skiing ability, I would not attempt the big. This is my Friend George Chamberlin. He is a 45 year veteran from Sugarbush who relocated to Big Ski to be with his Family. He is a great skier. He made one mistake at the top of the big and this is what happened. Be careful. I would get a guide to show you the North Snow feilds first before attemting the Big. Big Couloir TumbleWe know George, skied w him at BS...did the whole tour of the VT shack w him and Kevin. I knew he was injured had never seen the video. Holy fuck. I have been to BS 4x and have never skied BS, either because of conditions, wind, tram lines, etc. No doubt will do it, but it is pretty fucking scary. He is lucky he is alive. There is the heart in your throat thing first several turns 1st time down. Fortunate both days I've skied it was good snow conditions in BC (was mostly windblown chalky dry snow. Most similar on hill I found was is in the Gullies). Both days with a guide, 3X each. It's technical but I still think the side slip down the back of the peak to the entrance was even scarier than BC itself. The slide is literally cliff edge and you are looking WAY down into the Moonlight side. Felt like you were 20,000' in the air.

Ya I know you guys skied with him. He was our mentor at SB when we first came. He took me under his wing and showed me a ton of what I know. He is actually sking this year amazingly enough. Dislocated shoulder and shatered Tib-fib. Certainly lucky. I miss skiing with him and have to visit. I have been to BS 3x. I have not done the big because of closures, weather and shitty conditions. Had a slot once and bailed but I also will return. It is not out of our ability, just need to be cautious. 50 degrees at the entrance and then it is OK.

Long shot but does anyone have any leads for lodging at Bigsky this March? Good luck. Boy do I miss the days of huge lodging discounts for NEP holders. Summit was such a steal back then and still absolutely love the Olympic sized hot tub and tub side beverage service. I do not know why more ski resort hotels don't build pool sized tubs like that.

Those who have platinum passes have you been able to use your ikon days at big sky in addition to your SR pass days? A friend went out 3 days direct to lift with your NEP 5 days on Ikon base, but you need to make a reservation for each day through the Ikon site. Can also buy additional 50% off tickets at the window using NEP or Mountain Collective benefit but only for yourself.

Interesting concept on the new tram - pay per ride. www.explorebigsky.com/resort-officials-respond-to-questions-about-new-tram/48317"The new tram will have a capacity of 75 passengers, a significant increase from the current 15-person tram, and the pricing structure for tram access will change: instead of the current flat rate which allows unlimited access once skiers and snowboarders pay for a tram day, the new tram will charge per ride...During the winter, the number of skiers riding the tram will be limited in accordance with conditions determined by ski patrol—in essence, the tram is not intended to carry 75 skiers at once."

Boyne at it again at Big Sky! As if the new Tram and coming Explorer 2 stage 10 pax D-Line Gondi weren't enough, Big Sky just announced the Six Shooter (primary lift on the Moonlight side) will be replaced this summer with a D-Line Bubble 8! Damn!!

Has anyone gone to Big Sky in the summer.
Just booked a trip for June and trying to see what the vibe is like? Do they spin lifts in the summer. Any way to see if Everett's is open in the summer?
